Chyfields Wildlife Sanctuary, Surrey

Project Outline

Being off the gas grid, the owner of this unique wildlife rescue charity was keen to make the house and centre as sustainable as possible and thereby leave a legacy for future generations.

Efficiency improvements included maximising loft insulation throughout and upgrading all lighting to LED. In addition, with plenty of sustainable wood available from their surrounding land, biomass stoves further reduce the need for heating oil.

A 36.0kWp Solar PV system was installed using the roofs of the main house, converted stable block and maintenance barns. An Air Source Heat Pump is being added to significantly reduce space, hot water and swimming pool heating costs.

The system generates 31,490 kWh per and saves 14.0t CO2 per annum

It’s been fantastic dealing with everyone at Treadlighter. So many people would love to add solar panels and other renewables to their homes and businesses but are put off as the process seems so complicated. Having you on hand to advise and install everything as well as sorting out all the paperwork made life dead simple so now all we have to do is sit back and enjoy our free electricity
